Walk to the edge of Arctic sheet ice and explore waters teeming with seals and narwhal. Every spring, as the ice retreats, it’s possible to venture right to the floe-edge. Join up with other active, outdoor enthusiasts and journey by snowmobile and komatik sled to your base camp on the edge. Watch the Arctic come alive in spring’s embrace as polar bears hunt and walrus bask in the returning sun. Experience the spring thaw of Canada's far north and one of the world's great natural events on this awe-inspiring eight-day adventure.
Day 1 Pond Inlet
Arrive at any time.
Day Pond Inlet (B,L,D)
Travel by snowmachine and komatik sled towards the floe-edge area, arrive in the afternoon and setup base camp.
Day 3-6 Floe-Edge (4B,4L,4D)
Spend your days observing, photographing, and filming the active wildlife around you. There are chances to see many different bird species, different types of whales, and perhaps even the odd polar bear. Cultural activities might include finding an ancient Thule site or an old whaling station.
Day 7 Pond Inlet (B)
Return journey to Pond Inlet.
Day 8 Pond Inlet (B)
Depart at any time.
