Itinerary:

Day 1  : Arrival in Helsinki

Transfer from the airport to the hotel and check-in. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Helsinki.

Day 2  : Helsinki

Helsinki Sightseeing and Suomenlinna Sea Fortress

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, on the mainland, a private car tour focuses on the architecture, history and everyday life of Helsinki. It begins at Senate Square. This magnificent historical center is a great example of 19th century architecture. The Senate Square offers a view of the impressive Helsinki Cathedral, which towers above the square and the main building of the Helsinki University, the National Library and the Government Palace. In the middle of the square is a statue of the tsar Alexander II. Further we pass by the impressive Russian Orthodox Uspenski Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, which also served as the Imperial Palace during Tsarist times, the Ateneum Art Museum, part of Finnish National Gallery, and the Kiasma contemporary art museum.

A pause will be made at the bustling Market Square, where you will get a glimpse of the busy happenings at the unique Old Market Hall and have a chance to do some shopping. The tour winds up with a visit to the Temppeliaukio “Rock“Church, a truly unique structure built right into the rock. We’ll also make a short pause to see the monument to the famous Finnish composer Sibelius.

In the afternoon we will  the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress built in the 18th century as a key part of the Swedish empire’s naval defense system. Russian tsar Peter the Great decided to set foundations of the new Russian capital St. Petersburg at the end of the Gulf of Finland and changed the balance of security on the northern Baltic Sea. During your visit, you’ll get to see its well-preserved stone walls, tunnels and the dry dock. The irregular network of bastions will give you a good idea of how changing epochs and changing political tides have influenced the fortress’ development. There are also dozens of mysterious, underwater sites around the fortress. Though they cannot be visited, your guide will tell you their stories as well as other interesting secrets that Suomenlinna hides. Overnight in Helsinki (B)

Day 3  : Helsinki - Rovaniemi

Northern Lights Search in Rovaniemi

Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Transfer to airport to catch the flight to Rovaniemi. Arrival at noon to Rovaniemi Airport. Private transfer from the airport to the newly renovated Scandic City Hotel in the city center.

21:00 – 01:00   A private car will take you 50 km away for the Aurora chasing adventure. After stepping out of the car in the middle of nowhere, we will walk down to the river experiencing the surrounding sleeping nature.  We will reach the best spot to see the northern sky, but be patient as the auroras love playing hide-and-seek; we never know if or when they will show up!

While enjoying the peace of nature we will fry sausages surrounded by the great aroma of the fire. Before returning to civilization, we will drop by a cozy old building where hosts will warmly welcome us and show us their dwelling, which takes us back into the past.  Overnight in Rovaniemi (B)

Day 4  : Rovaniemi

Arctic Delight – Visit to Santa’s Village and snowmobiling to reindeer farm

Come and discover the secrets of Santa Claus and his trusted helpers! Meet Mr. Father Christmas himself, visit Santa’s Official Post Office, do some shopping and enjoy delicious lunch. After lunch, we will head for the snowmobiles and drive to a local reindeer farm where we will meet reindeer, try a short reindeer sleigh ride, take part in special “Crossing of the Arctic Circle” ceremony and in the evening return to the city by snowmobiles. Crossing the Arctic Circle Certificate will be given to you as a gift at the end of the safari. Overnight in Rovaniemi (B)

Day 5  : Rovaniemi

Husky Farm and Safari, Arctic Snow Hotel.

09:15 -11:45   Car transfer to the Husky Farm where these friendly dogs will bark an enthusiastic welcome to you.  Before departing on a 10 kilometer safari, you will be given instructions on how to control the sleds. Driving 2 per sledge. Once you return to the farm, enjoy some hot berry juice by an open fire and chat away with the head musher about these amazing northern animals.  

In the afternoon, a private transfer to the Arctic Snow hotel located 30 km from the city.  Accommodation in 2 person igloos. 3 Aurora alarm & Ice Restaurant dinner included.  Overnight in Arctic Snow Igloo (B, D)

Day 6  : Rovaniemi - Bergen

Breakfast at the hotel. Private transfer to the airport. Flight from Rovaniemi to Bergen via Helsinki. Upon arrival in Bergen, you will be transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Bergen (B)

Day 7  : Bergen

Bergen Sightseeing

Breakfast the hotel. In the morning, explore Bergen City Sightseeing & Fløibanen combination on a hop-on, hop-off bus tour that covers all popular Bergen attractions. On this hop on hop off tour you are free to create your own sightseeing itinerary. You can hop on at any of Bergen’s stops and hop off whenever you want to visit one of the attractions. This 13-stop tour ensures you will not miss a single sight or attraction in the city. You may hop on and hop off at any of the above-mentioned stops at your convenience and then hop back again when the next bus comes along. Overnight in Bergen (B)

Day 8  : Bergen – Flam

Norway in a Nutshell

After breakfast walk from your hotel to Bergen Train station to board the train to Voss. At Voss you will continue the journey on Coach to Gudvangen. A coach journey offers beautiful views of the Nærøydalen valley from Stalheim Canyon road, one of the highlights of Western Norway.

You will continue your journey of the Norway in a Nutshell tour by boat to Flam. The journey goes out from Aurlandsfjord into the Nærøyfjord, the narrowest fjord in Europe, now included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Surrounded by mighty mountains of up to 1,800 meters high, this branch of the Sognefjord is amazingly beautiful.  Dinner and accommodation at Fretheim Hotel, or similar. Overnight in Flam (B, D)

Day 9  : Flam - Oslo

Fjord Safari and Flam Railway

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning enjoy the Fjord Safari - take part in a unique adventure in the UNESCO fjord landscape. RIB boats offer an intimate experience of the fjord and mountains in this stunning World Heritage Site.

In afternoon, you will continue your journey by Flåm Railway - regarded as one of the highlights of the Norway in a Nutshell tour. The 20 km-long train journey from fjord village of Flåm up the Flåm Valley to the mountain station of Myrdal takes around 55 minutes. Enjoy some of the most magnificent mountain scenery in Norway with an ever-changing panorama of snow-capped mountains, thundering waterfalls and quaint villages. Along the route the train moves slowly or stops at the best views.

Upon arrival in Flåm, transfer to Bergen Railway to continue your scenic journey to Oslo. This unique and popular day-excursion takes you through some of the most magnificent scenery to be found on the west coast of Norway.  Walk or take a taxi to your hotel near Oslo Central Station. Overnight in Oslo (B)

Day 10  : Oslo

Oslo City Sightseeing

Breakfast at the hotel. Today embark the scheduled 5-hour Oslo Discovery Tour &  explore Oslo's must see attractions. Feel the cozy atmosphere in the city center, admire stunning views over Oslofjord from Holmenkollen Ski Jump, get in touch with the art of the most prolific Norwegian sculptor as you stroll through Vigeland Park encompassing more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron. On Bygdøy Peninsula you will enhance your Oslo experience by visiting 2 unique museums: the Fram Museum or Kon-Tiki Museum and then, the Viking Ship Museum.

Trip through central Oslo, a photo op at the ski jump at Holmenkollen, and Vigeland Sculpture Park. On Bygdøy, you will visit the Viking Ship Museum. Overnight in Oslo (B)
