These adventures and more are creatively combined on this fun family tour!

Day 1  : Arrival

Welcome to Iceland! Arrival in Iceland. On your own transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik. Your Iceland experience starts when you turn on the hotel‘s hot water—the water comes right from underground volcano-heated springs and heats buildings in most of Iceland. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy Reykjavik. Perhaps you‘ll visit one of the city‘s museums, several of which have exhibits for children. Or try some of the city treats like Icelandic hot dogs or ice cream. Overnight at the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura or similar

Day 2  : Thingvellir National Park and Laugarvatn

National Park with Geological Wonders – Hot Springs Bakery
Breakfast at your hotel. Meet your guide and travel companions. Start with a tour of Reykjavik, Iceland‘s amazing capital. You‘ll also visit the city‘s new Whales of Iceland experience. Here you will walk around lifelike fibreglass replicas of various whale species seen in Iceland in an underwater-like setting. The whales and dolphins are life size, letting you see how large and magnificent these sea mammals are.
After getting to know Reykjavik, your family group heads to Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage site) where Vikings used to meet every summer to make important decisions for the nation. This is an interesting geological place: you can actually walk between the ridge that divides the European and North American continents.
Drive through countryside where you can see hot steam coming from the ground. Icelanders use the pollution-free steam to heat their homes and even to do some baking. You´ll experience this first-hand at Laugarvatn Fontana´s geothermal bakery. See how the bread is cooked underground in Mother Nature´s oven. Sample some delicious bread, served hot from the ground, and slathered with fresh Icelandic butter. You‘ll also have the option to visit the natural steam baths and hot pools at Fontana, a fun family facility (not included, ticket can be purchased in Iceland). Overnight in the Laugarvatn area.

Day 3  : Icelandic Farm Life and the Golden Circle

Friendly Icelandic Horses– Ice Cream with the Cows – Geysir - Gullfoss Waterfall – Farm and Greenhouse Tour
Breakfast at your accommodation. Today you‘ll visit Icelandic farms and see how people live in the countryside! See a dairy farm and hear about the daily life of an Icelandic family who has farmed here for decades. You‘ll learn about how the family makes cheese and ice cream from their cows‘ milk. You‘ll also have a look at „the girls“, the cows who provide the milk at the farm‘s unique Ice Cream Barn. There will also be chance for you to taste some delicious farm-made ice cream. Continue your family adventure to the geothermal fields of Geysir with its odd bubbling mud pools and the high-spouting Strokkur hot spring. Nearby is the dramatic Gullfoss waterfall, a spectacular sight in winter when frozen in mid-cascade.
This afternoon visit Fridheimar, an eco-friendly horse farm and greenhouse. Take a tour of the greenhouses, where tomatoes and cucumbers are grown year-round, thanks to the energy from hot springs. Then visit the stables and meet some of the friendly Icelandic horses. You‘ll also see a demonstration of the Icelandic horse breed‘s unique five gaits. Later you can enjoy a swim in the hot spring-fed Secret Lagoon (optional, not included). Overnight in the Fludir area.

Day 4  : Iceland’s South Shore

Waterfalls – Glacial Views - Black Sand Beaches
Breakfast at your accommodation. Drive along the south shore, an area of Iceland that is quite beautiful to view in the winter. You‘ll visit two waterfalls as you head east, each one with its own special look and story.
At the Volcano Visitor Centre at Thorvaldseyri Farm, located beneath Eyjafjallajokull Volcano, your family group will see in pictures and film, the story of the 2010 eruption and its impact on Iceland and the whole world. Your tour then heads to Vik town and the Reynisfjara beach. Take a walk on the black sands, admiring the extraordinary rock formations and thundering waves of the Atlantic Ocean. You might also catch a glimpse of rocks in the sea that Icelandic legends say were once trolls! Overnight in the Vik area. (2 nights here)

Day 5  : Skaftafell National Park - Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon

Glacier-Filled National Park - Glacial Lagoon with Icebergs - Europe's Largest Glacier
Today enter the area of Vatnajokull National Park, named after Europe's largest glacier. This national park is also one of the largest in Europe. The park's Skaftafell region is a site of outstanding natural beauty, volcanic landscapes dominated by Vatnajokull glacier and its outlets. Here you will learn about glaciers and how they impact Iceland‘s geology. Continue to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon where you can enjoy a breathtaking sight of icebergs floating in the fantastic 180m (591 ft) deep glacial lagoon. Keep an eye out for seals sleeping amid the icebergs. Return to your accommodation for overnight.

Day 6  : Return to Reykjavik

Breakfast at your accommodation. Enjoy the beautiful Icelandic countryside with its glaciers and volcanoes as you head back to Reykjavik. There are fun activities planned along the way! Enjoy a relaxing swim at a local geothermal swimming pool. Watch how eggs can be hard boiled using geothermal steam right from the ground. Return to Reykjavik. Rest of the day is open for your own activities in the family-friendly capital of Iceland. Overnight at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura or similar
