St2 | BUS TOUR AROUND THE SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA
Tour Highlights: An introduction to the history and geology of Iceland, visit to the Shark Museum. Due to its diversity of landscapes and places of national interests, Snaefellsnes Peninsula is often called “Iceland en miniature”. This excursion includes views on the Snaefellsjökull Glacier, the dramatic rock formations of Snaefellsnes as well as the Londrangar Rock pinnacles, which are remnants of a large volcanic crater. Tour Highlights: Glacier tour by snow cat. By snow cat your experienced guide takes you up to 4,600 feet on Snaefellsjökull Glacier! In good weather you can enjoy a fantastic view over Hellissandur and Breidafjördur Bay. On especially clear days you can even spot the far-off Westfjords. I1 | SEA ANGLING FROM FLATEYRI/SUDUREYRI
Tour Highlights: Extreme sea angling, close to nature. The waters along the Westfjords are extremely rich in marine life due to special current conditions and sustainable fisheries policy. This sea angling tour allows you to benefit from these factors to catch cod, haddock and halibut of stately size. I2 | BOAT TOUR TO VIGUR
Tour Highlights: A slow travel high quality nature tour. Enjoy a short trip to Vigur. This serene little island, which boasts only five inhabitants, is a perfect location to observe an array of birds in their natural surroundings including puffins, eider ducks, arctic terns and black guillemot. While on the island, you can also visit Iceland‘s only extant windmill which dates from the 19th century. I3 | BUS TOUR: THINGEYRI AND DYNJANDI WATERFALL
Tour Highlights: Harsh landscape, driving across mountains and the magnificent Dynjandi waterfall. This tour leads to Iceland’s most sparsely populated areas. On this daytrip you will explore the Westfjords, an historic village and a magnificent waterfall. With a population of about 260 inhabitants Thingeyri is both the area‘s first trading post and one of the oldest settlements. S1 | HERRING MUSEUM Tour Highlights: The history of the Icelandic herring industry. What changed Iceland into a contemporary society that it is today? Dive into the golden age of the herring boom at the award-winning “Herring Museum”. The museum‘s five exhibits illustrate the history of the industry, the processing of the herring into meal and oil, a fish freezing plant, and a waterfront dock area where visitors can stroll past 11 different fishing vessels on display. A life herring salting demonstration with traditional songs and dances is during the summer performed by a local theater group, where the spirit of old herring plants is revived. The golden age of the herring fishery play an important role in the history of the Icelandic equal right movement. a2 | BUS TOUR: LAKE MYVATN CLASSIC Tour Highlights: The Lake Myvatn, Godafoss Waterfall, Dimmuborgir, Myvatn Nature Baths. Enjoy one of the most beautiful spots in northern Iceland. Lake Myvatn area teems with fauna. The tour starts with a stop at the spectacular Godafoss waterfall and continues to the small settlement of Skutustadagígar. We stop also at the impressive lava formations of Dimmuborgir, said to resemble a collapsed citadel. In Icelandic folklore Dimmuborgir is said to connect the earth to the infernal regions. hu2 | BUSTOUR: DIAMOND CIRCLE Tour Highlights: Dettifoss and Jökulsargljufur Canyon National Park. A number of Iceland’s highlights are included in this excursion. The horseshoe shaped depression Asbyrgi Canyon, said to be the meeting place of the pagan gods.The Jökulsargljufur Glacial Canyon and also the echoing cliffs Hljodaklettar and the Dettifoss Waterfall, Europe‘s most powerful waterfall. Sf1 | HUSEY – HORSEBACKRIDING Tour Highlights: Icelandic horse tour. The history of the Icelandic horse reaches back to the 9th century. This small sized horse is considered to be intelligent, well-tempered and versatile. The farm Husey is located between two glacial rivers, 37 miles north of Egilsstadir. The 2-hour-horseback tour offers a wonderful way to appreciate the beauty of the coast and the nearby mountains. Sf2 | BUSTOUR: SKALANES NATURE RESERVE Tour Highlights. Remote Nature Reserve and a Technological Museum. This tour is a unique opportunity to get to know one of Iceland’s most remote places that even few Icelanders have visited so far. The tour begins with a drive to the archaeological interesting site of Thorarinsstadirm. Here we’ll take a look at an excavation site with relicts of the Viking era, before the tour continues along the fjord surrounded by high mountains. The nature and heritage center of Skalanes covers 1250 hectares. The center aims to create a site where Icelandic environment and cultural history can be researched and interpreted whilst maintaining a model for sustainable tourism. The area is a habitat for approx. 50 different bird species during summer time. Also Eider ducks nest a colony on site. A 45-minutes-hike will be carried out to the 1920 feet high sea cliffs. Before heading back to the town of Seydisfjordur we’ll enjoy some local refreshments at Skalanes House. Sf3 | BUS TOUR: EAST FJORDS – MINERAL AND WARTIME HISTORY Tour Highlights: Narrow fjords, Mineral Collection, Wartime Museum. Narrow fjords, jagged mountain peaks, remote farms and small fishing villages are some of East Iceland’s characteristics. This coach tour takes you from Seydisfjordur to the inland and via the mountain road Breiddalsheidi further to Stodvarfjordur. There we‘ll visit Petra‘s impressive “Stone and Mineral Collection”. Walk through her remarkable garden and see amazing stones, which she has collected throughout her life. From Stödvarfjordur we head to Reydarfjordur and visit the Wartime Museum. The museum is located by the barracks that were a part of a big hospital camp and shows Icelandic life in the 1940’s, the high point of the World War II. d1 | BUS TOUR: GLACIER LAGOON/JOKULSARLON Tour Highlights. Vatnajokull’s glacial tongues, boat tour on the Glacier Lagoon (Amphibian Boat). This tour from Djupivogur takes you to the magnificent Glacier Lagoon of Jokulsarlon. Huge blocks of ice constantly break off the glacier, Breidamerkurjokull, and large icebergs float on the lagoon. The lagoon is not very wide but it is up to 750 feet deep which makes it the deepest lake in Iceland. Breidamerkurjokull is an outlet of the Vatnajokull glacier. d2 | VATNAJOKULL GLACIER – SNOWMOBILE TOUR Tour Highlights: 4x4 Super jeeps, snowmobile tour. This tour start as a coach tour from Djupivogur before a specially equipped 4x4 vehicle will take you up to Vatnajokull - Europe‘s largest glacier. The peak offers stunning views over glacier, mountain valleys and the Ocean. Several film sequences have been shot on this glacier including the opening sequence in James Bond movie “A View to a Kill”. In 2011, it was used as a location for the hugely popular HBO series Game of Thrones. On the glacier you will enjoy 1 hour snowmobile tour (2 persons per scooter). The tour includes a lunch at the lobster restaurant Humarhofnin in Hofn.  Walking involved: Easy to moderate on the glacier. The snowmobile tour requires generally good physical condition. Enjoy a Super Jeep drive from Djupivogur towards Illikambur/Evelridge in Lonsoraefi close to Europe’s biggest glacier. From Illikambur it is a 2 hour walk to Mulaskali and back to the jeep.
