Day 1  : Oslo

Arrive at the hotel and take some time to settle in. At 6:00pm we meet our guide in the hotel lobby for a short briefing before dinner. Dinner and overnight in Oslo.

Options: Private transfer to the hotel
Day 2  : Oslo

Today we explore Oslo in depth as we visit its landmarks and explore its many districts. Main sights that we will see include the Royal Palace, the medieval fortress of Akershus, the modern opera house, the city hall and the wharf of Aker Brygge Pier. Next we explore Oslo’s cultural centre – Bygdøy Island – home to three impressive museums: Viking Museum, Kon Tiki and Fram Museum. For a tranquil respite from the bustling city streets we stroll through Frogner Park, home to the Vigeland Sculpture Park, one of Oslo’s most popular tourist attractions. In the afternoon consider spending some free time in the lovely shopping street of Karl Johan or perhaps enjoy the seafront at the Tjuvholmen island or Aker Brygge Pier, the Scandinavian answer to St. Tropez! Overnight in Oslo.

Day 3  : Sognefjord & Flåm

We transfer to the Railway Station to catch the NSB train to Myrdal. Our journey takes us into the wild and scenic Norwegian fjord landscape, past the idyllic resort of Geilo and up to the mountain station in Myrdal. In Myrdal we board the historical mountain train of Flåmsbana. This train ride is considered to be one of the most breathtaking in the world thanks to its scenic stops which include sparkling waterfalls and idyllic valleys. We finish at Flåm village, located on the shore of the deep Nærøyfjord. In the afternoon our tour leader will take us on a walk in the Flåm Valley, where you will have the option of renting a bike. Dinner and overnight in Flam.

Options: Rent a bike in Flam Valley
Day 4  : Sognefjord & Bergen

The day begins with the highlight of our tour - an early morning 2 hour mini cruise through the magical Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and steepest fjord with absolutely breathtaking scenery. Our cruise will finish in Gudvangen where our driver will be on hand to take us through the longest tunnel in Norway to Voss and then to Bergen, which we arrive at around
lunchtime. After lunch, we go for a panoramic tour of Bergen with a local guide. We visit the Bryggen Pier, the Trollhaugen Museum and go to the home of famous Norwegian author Edvard Grieg. There will also be time for an exterior visit of the mystical Fantoft Stave Church – a short drive outside the city. Dinner and overnight in Bergen.

Day 5  : Bergen

Today there is free time to relax or to explore this picturesque city independently. Alternatively we can arrange a 1 hour helicopter ride over the Hardangerfjord. In the early evening we take the funicular Fløibanen through the mountain up to Bergen’s highest viewpoint. There we enjoy a 3-course dinner at the Fløien Folkerestaurant which has a stunning view of the city and its surrounding fjords. Dinner and overnight in Bergen.

Options: 1 hour helicopter ride over the Hardangerfjord
Day 6  : Hardanger & Lofthus

Our road trip continues southwards today, passing the tremendous water falls of Steindalsvossen and onto the scenic road along the Hardangerfjord. We cross the fjord by car ferry at Kvanndal to Utne, where we visit Hardanger Folk Museum to hear about the history of the area and its local society. We continue by ferry to Kinsarvik where we drive the remaining few minutes to our hotel for the night, located directly in front of the Hardangerfjord. We will spend the rest of the afternoon in this spectacular setting. Dinner and overnight in Kinsarvik.

Day 7  : Telemark and Oslo

This morning we drive through the Telemark area which is dotted with lots of small villages and home to the beautiful Hardangervidda National Park. We stop at the medieval Heddal Stave Church for a photo and a quick look round before continuing to Oslo. We arrive back in Oslo in the early afternoon. There will be time to pick up some final souvenirs or to steal a last look at the Aker Brygge overlooking the Oslofjord, while sipping a cup of tea or local beer. Look forward to a farewell dinner at the luxurious Lofoten Fiskerestaurant where you can try the delectable shellfish platters and Oyster presentation. Dinner and overnight in Oslo.
