Itinerary:

Enjoy the best of what Norway has to offer with its amazing fjords, waterfalls, coastal and city culture, the unique history of the Vikings, a glacier, mountains, and idyllic islands. This is a unique semi-independent kind of tour, where you travel around by public transport (scenic trains and ferries) with the help of a tour escort. Except for the tours in Oslo, there are no buses included, so we suggest you pack light and find your inner adventurer. You will have scheduled signhtseeing tours in Oslo and Bergen. The tour escort will travel with you between Oslo and Bergen, so you don't need to worry about having vouchers for hotels or trains—these will be taken care of, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Day 1  : Arrival in Bergen

Welcome to The Kingdom of Norway, a country with some of the most beautiful fjords on Earth. Arrive in Bergen and make your own way to the hotel. Shuttle bus rides can be booked ahead of time. The rest of the day is free.

Day 2  : Bergen

Discover Bergen, a city recognized for its cultural and historical significance, the starting point to the Norwegian Fjords. Because of its status as both a European City of Culture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bergen area provides visitors with the perfect balance of outdoor recreation, cultural experiences, and dynamic city life.

Gather at the hotel lobby at 10:00 in the morning for a walking tour of Bergen led by a local tour guide. Stop by all the must-see spots, like the Hanseatic Bryggen and its Mary Church, the Hakon Fortress, and the lively fish market.

To get a bird's-eye perspective of the city, ride the Flobanen Funicular to the peak of Mountain Floyen.

We recommend participating in one of the optional activities to get a true feel for Norway.

Day 3  : Bergen - Sognefjord

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, we walk to the harbor in Bergen, where we will board a ferry cruise to Balestrand. Take in the breathtaking vistas of the Sognefjord, known as the "King of Fjords." Departure from Bergen is at 08:00 am (schedule subject to change). Arrival time in Balestrand is 11:55 in the morning.

Upon landing in Balestrand, the pier is just a short walk from your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore on your own. Your tour escort will let you know at what time dinner will be served.

Day 4  : Sognefjord

Breakfast in the hotel. Today you are free to explore the Norwegian countryside on your own or you can opt for an optional tour to Fjaerland described here:

We sail through the reathtaking Fjærland fjord with amazing views of the steep mountains, the green fjord itself and vibrant landscape. We arrive at Fjærland where the glacier meets the fjord. Here we wait for a shuttle bus which takes us to the Norwegian Glacier Museum. Enjoy Ivo Caprino's panoramic film about Jostedalen Glacier and the fascinating exhibition. The trip continues by coach to the two glaciers –Supphellebreen and Bøyabreen – before the coach takes us back to Fjærland. The full-day excursion concludes with a boat trip back to Hella/Balestrand. Coach to the glaciers and museum entrance are included in the round-trip fare. We recommend that you book this excursion when you book the tour as we cannot guarantee availability if booked upon arrival in Norway.

Day 5  : Balestrand - Oslo

Breakfast at the hotel. Your journey on the Sognefjord continues today, Sognefjord - the King of Norway and the longest fjord in Norway. The initial part of the fjord, called Aurlandsfjord, is a 17-kilometer arm of the world’s second longest fjord, the Sognefjord (204 km). It is one of the most picturesque fjords in the world.

Arrive in Flåm, where you will have some free time to discover this beautiful village.

Departure to Myrdal by train. Myrdal station is a mountain railway station and junction, located about 13 km from the village Flåm.

Board the famous Flåmsbana - one of the steepest trainlines in the world. The train journey runs through fantastic nature, past the Rallar road, steep mountains, breath-taking waterfalls, through 20 tunnels and offers so many viewpoints that many feel like travelling multiple times between the mountain and the fjord.

Day 6  : Oslo

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your local guide at the reception at 11:00 am, and depart for a 3-hour city sightseeing of the vibrant capital of Norway. Guided tour of the city including the Frogner Park, with all sculptural Vigeland, the museum of Viking ships (entrance not included), showcasing three original Viking Age ships, the Royal Palace, City Hall and Akershus Fortress. 

Overnight in Oslo (breakfast)

Day 7  : Departure from Oslo

Breakfast at the hotel. Our tour ends after breakfast. Depending on your flight details, you can still enjoy some last-minute shopping for the Viking souvenirs, walk along the streets and explore the city of the royal family, and the main Karl Johan’s street, with many shops, bars and cafes (breakfast).
