Europe Vacation Packages
Most Europe vacation packages route travelers through the same Western European capitals. Nordic Saga takes a different approach: our itineraries focus on Norway, Iceland, Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands — regions where landscapes, light, and local culture are genuinely distinct from anything further south. Every trip is planned by specialists who know these destinations in all four seasons, not generalist agents working from a catalog.
If you are comparing the best European tour packages and trying to decide where Nordic Saga fits, the short answer is this: we are not a pan-European operator. We go deep into the Nordic and Baltic regions, offer three clearly defined travel styles, and build itineraries around what the destination actually delivers — midnight sun in summer, aurora borealis in winter, medieval old towns and raw Arctic wilderness year-round.
Norway Summer Escorted Tours
Enjoy the ultimate summer experience on escorted, small-group Norway journeys limited to 30 participants. Travel aboard scenic fjord cruises, the iconic Flåm Railway and through charming towns from Bergen to Oslo. These 7–11-day tours include comfortable hotels, expert guides, ferry transfers and optional excursions – all logistics handled for you. Prices start at $1,900 per person.

Holiday Northern Lights - Christmas and New Years
Visiting Iceland in winter can be an amazing experience with fewer people, beautiful winter landscapes, and chances to see the Northern Lights! There are also many fun winter activities like skiing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and joining New Years and Christmas celebrations. Fall and winter months with darker and longer nights tend to bring the highest odds for viewing the Northern Lights.

The North Cape Line
Join the North Cape Line in the beautiful city of Bergen for a fall, winter, or spring cruise to Arctic Norway at North Cape, perhaps under the Northern Lights. Your ship will then turn around and sail back south toward Lindesnes, bound for the cool capital of Oslo.
Norwegian Coastline
The Norwegian coast stretches more than 25,000 kilometres when its fjords and islands are counted — making it one of the most varied coastal routes in Europe. Sailings call at Bergen, Ålesund, Tromsø, and the Lofoten Islands, each offering a distinct combination of fishing-village character and mountain scenery. Shore excursions range from cable-car ascents above Bergen to boat trips deep into Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore Norwegian Coastline Voyages →
11-day Classic Norwegian Discovery Voyage
Starting in Bergen, you will cross the Arctic Circle twice, pass the North Cape, visit the turning point at Kirkenes and stop in the medieval city of Trondheim.
6-Day Southbound Norway Coastal Voyage
Ports visited today: Kirkenes, Vardø, Båtsfjord, Berlevåg.
Summer in Kirkenes is superb with 86°F degree temperatures at its hottest. The town is known as the capital of the Barents Region and the gateway to the east, with people here speaking Norwegian, Sámi, Finnish and Russian. As we turn south, the northbound ports previously visited by night are now seen by day.
7-Day Classic Voyage North
This voyage sails the iconic Norwegian coastline’s sheltered waters from Bergen towards the border town of Kirkenes.
Arctic Voyages
Routes that push above 70° north enter a landscape defined by glaciers, polar light, and wildlife — polar bears on Svalbard, walrus colonies on remote island shores, and seabird cliffs that dwarf anything further south. These expeditions suit travellers looking for something beyond conventional itineraries, with expedition-style landings by Zodiac and specialist naturalist guides on board. Norway
Northern Norway, particularly Tromsø and Alta, combines spectacular auroras with dramatic landscapes. Tromsø is called the "Gateway to the Arctic" and serves as an excellent base. The Lofoten Islands offer fishing villages and mountain backdrops that create unforgettable photo opportunities.

Alaska
Alaska, particularly the Fairbanks region, ranks among the world's most reliable aurora destinations. The area sits directly beneath the auroral oval and benefits from a continental climate that produces clear skies more consistently than coastal regions. Murphy Dome and Cleary Summit offer exceptional viewing, while Chena Hot Springs creates an unforgettable contrast - soaking in 106°F thermal pools while watching the aurora in sub-zero temperatures.

Tours to Europe: Three Ways to Travel
Before selecting a destination, choose the format that matches how you prefer to travel. All three styles are available across our main destinations.
Escorted Group Tours
A professional tour director travels with the group from start to finish. Hotels, transport, entrances to key sites, and most meals are pre-arranged. This format works well for first-time visitors to the region, solo travelers, and anyone who wants to arrive at each destination without logistics overhead. Group sizes are kept small to allow flexibility on the road.
- Best for: first-time visitors to the region, solo travelers, anyone who prefers not to handle logistics
- Available for: Norway, Iceland, Scandinavia, Baltic States
Private Tours
A dedicated guide — or driver-guide — accompanies your party exclusively. The pace, stops, and focus are adjusted to your interests. Private tours suit couples, families, and small groups traveling for a special occasion. They are also the right choice when you want access to locations or experiences that standard group itineraries skip.
- Best for: couples, families, corporate groups, special occasions
- Available for: all destinations
Independent & Self-Drive Packages
We handle all accommodation bookings, ferry reservations, and car rental logistics. You receive a detailed day-by-day roadbook and drive at your own pace. Iceland's Ring Road and Norway's fjord routes are the most popular self-drive options. This format requires confidence behind the wheel and comfort with navigating independently, but gives maximum freedom over timing and detours.
- Best for: experienced travelers who want freedom without booking stress
- Popular routes: Iceland Ring Road, Self-Drive Norway Fjords
What Each Region Offers
Norway divides into two clear travel seasons. Summer covers fjord cruises, coastal villages, and hiking under the midnight sun — available as escorted group tours, tailored private itineraries from Oslo to the Lofoten Islands, or independent packages with pre-booked logistics. Winter shifts the focus to Northern Lights, dog-sledding, and snow activities, with options from small-group Premium Escorted departures to Arctic Voyages into the Svalbard archipelago. The Norwegian Coastline cruise follows historic Hurtigruten ports from Bergen northward year-round.
Iceland changes significantly by season. Summer brings 24-hour daylight, open highland roads, and geothermal landscapes accessible by escorted group or private guide. Winter is the window for Northern Lights, ice caves, and the Self-Drive Ring Road — Route 1 circles the island in roughly 1,332 km and takes 7–14 days depending on stops. Christmas and New Year's departures include festive programming not part of standard itineraries. Independent travelers can start from Reykjavik, combine a flight package from New York, or book hotels and drive without a guide.
Scandinavia tours cover Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland — as multi-country escorted or private itineraries between Copenhagen, Stockholm, Bergen, and Helsinki, or as independent packages with logistics handled. Winter tours concentrate on Lapland: reindeer farms, aurora programs, and ski events. The Göta Canal cruise connects Stockholm to Gothenburg through Sweden's inland waterways as an alternative to coach travel.
The Baltic States — Tallinn, Riga, and Vilnius each have medieval old towns on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Tours run as escorted three-country itineraries, customized private routes with stops beyond the main cities, or country-specific packages for Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania individually. Jewish Heritage Tours cover significant sites across all three countries. Winter packages focus on Christmas markets in Riga and Tallinn.
Greenland suits travelers who have covered the standard Nordic destinations and want something genuinely remote. Infrastructure outside main settlements is limited and most tours run as small-group or expedition formats. Entry is most practical via Copenhagen. Options include winter tours with ice fjords and Inuit culture, coastal cruises by ship, and Arctic Circle expeditions above the polar line.
Cruises & Voyages — the Norwegian Coastline route covers classic Hurtigruten ports; Arctic Voyages reach Svalbard and High Arctic waters; Northern Lights Winter Cruises combine aurora viewing with fjord sailing; Iceland and Greenland can be covered in a single combination voyage.
Faroe Islands, Finland, and Alaska round out the portfolio — remote Atlantic archipelago tours, Lapland and Helsinki city breaks, and sub-Arctic wildlife routes for nature-focused travelers.
How to Choose the Right Europe Vacation Package
Which destination?
- Fjords and coastal scenery → Norway
- Volcanoes, geysers, and a ring road route → Iceland
- Northern Lights in a remote, expedition setting → Greenland or Arctic
- Medieval old towns and Baltic Sea coast → Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
- Classic Scandinavia across multiple countries → Scandinavia multi-country tour
Which format?
- First trip to the region → Escorted Group Tour
- Special occasion or non-standard routing → Private Tour
- Maximum flexibility, logistics handled → Independent Package
- See more in less time, travel by water → Cruise or Voyage
Which season?
- June–August — fjords, hiking, midnight sun, highland roads open
- September–October — fewer crowds, early Northern Lights window
- November–March — Northern Lights peak season, snow activities, Christmas tours
- April–May — lowest prices, snowmelt landscapes, spring light
When to Book Europe Vacation Packages
Demand for summer departures in Norway and Iceland peaks between January and March for the same calendar year. Winter aurora tours typically sell out 4–6 months in advance, particularly for small-group and private formats. If you have fixed travel dates — an anniversary, a school holiday, a milestone birthday — book as early as possible. If your dates are flexible, shoulder-season departures (May and September–October) offer shorter lead times and less crowded itineraries.
Why Book Europe Vacation Packages with Nordic Saga

- Three travel formats on every major destination: escorted, private, independent
- Itineraries cover both well-known routes and locations outside the standard tourist circuit
- Support from initial planning through to return — one point of contact throughout
- Multi-country combinations available: Norway + Iceland, Baltics + Scandinavia, and others
Not sure where to start? Speak with our specialists — we will match a package to your dates, budget, and travel priorities.
FAQ
What is included in a Europe vacation package?
All packages include accommodation and internal transport. Escorted and private tours include a professional guide throughout. Meals and entrance fees vary by itinerary — check the individual tour page for what is and is not covered. International flights are not included by default but can be arranged through our team.
Can I combine two European destinations in one trip?
Yes. For example, Iceland and Norway are frequently combined, as are the Baltics and Scandinavia. Our specialists can build a custom two-destination itinerary. Speak with our team about minimum trip lengths and the most practical routing between destinations.
What is the best season for tours to Europe in the Nordic region?
It depends on what you want to see. Summer gives access to fjords, highland roads, and midnight sun. Winter is the only window for Northern Lights and snow-based activities. Spring and autumn are lower in price and less crowded, but some routes — particularly highland Iceland — may be restricted.
How far in advance should I book Europe tour packages for a group?
For groups of 8 or more, we recommend contacting us at least 9–12 months before your intended departure. Private tours for smaller groups can often be arranged within 3–6 months, subject to availability.
