FAQ

What is a Typical Day on a Greenland Cruise?

The objective during your exploration in Greenland is to provide various activities that enable all participants to disembark and personally engage with the island's natural beauty, communities, and culture.

The range of activities available in Greenland will depend significantly on the characteristics of the sites we explore. Some larger communities may require a full day for thorough exploration, while smaller villages can often be visited within just a few hours. As the largest island on Earth, travel times between destinations in this region can be considerable. Offered activities include landings, Zodiac excursions, and ship cruises. Due to regulations in Greenland, there are restrictions on the number of people allowed ashore at certain natural and historical sites. To optimize exploration time when these limits are in place, we will typically arrange a Zodiac cruise while one group of guests is ashore, then alternate for the next group. In urban areas where the environmental impact is less sensitive, there are no restrictions on the number of visitors allowed to go ashore. Regardless of the day's specific plans, the onboard Expedition Team and Expedition Leader will collaborate closely with the Captain and Crew to enhance exploration opportunities.

A "typical" day on an expedition in Greenland might unfold as follows (subject to weather, sea conditions, and sailing schedules):

  • 0645: Wake-up call
  • 07:00-08:00: Breakfast
  • 08:30-11:30: Morning activity – arrival at port while anchored, Zodiac trip to explore Greenlandic communities, historical landmarks, etc. Depending on the location, we may remain docked for the entire day.
  • 12:30-13:30: Lunch onboard
  • 14:30-17:30: Afternoon Activity – Either related to the morning's endeavors or at a different location, based on the itinerary
  • 18:30-19:30: Evening Recap with the Expedition Team
  • 19:30: Dinner
