The Northern Lights Northbound - unbelievable scenery! For years we have planned to see the Northern Lights. Finally, we made it! We did it on the classic Hurtigruten voyage from Bergen to Bergen. We took tons of photos of this wonder and land based excursions. We were extremely lucky to have clear nights and got some fantastic images. It was freezingly cold, though. The end of and we were lucky to see much of this natural beauty. The wonderful Norwegian coastline kept us busy all day long admiring and taking photos. Itinerary:

Day 1  : Embarkation from Bergen

Take time to explore Bergen before departing and leaving your everyday life behind. It's time to relax and look forward to a wonderful journey along the iconic Norwegian coast.

Day 2  : Ålesund

We navigate through the skerries and islands, making several brief night time calls along the coastline. When we reach Ålesund, the town renowned for its beautiful Art Nouveau architecture, there is time to explore this charming town.

Day 3  : The Royal City of Trondheim

Our first call of the day is Trondheim, home to the impressive Nodaros Catherdral, Scandinavia's largest medieval building. This very walkable city is well worth discovering.

Day 4  : Arctic Circle and Lofoten Islands

Crossing the Arctic Circle is one of the highlights on this journey. The Lofoten Islands are renowned for their small fishing villages surrounded by majestic granite cliffs and white sandy beaches.

Day 5  : Tromsø, the Gateway to the Arctic

During the night we sail through the spectacular and narrow Raftsund and past the Trollfjord. In the afternoon we arrive in your final port, Tromsø, the Gateway to the Arctic. Transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. Enjoy free time to explore Tromsø or take part in one of our winter excursions and hunt the Northern Lights.

Day 6  : Tromsø
