Separated from the mainland by the Vestfjord, they form a chain about 150 km long from South-West to North-East, consisting of more than eighty mountain ranges erected above the sea, often vertically; The most impressive of them reach 1300 meters above sea level. The archipelago is a jagged universe, made up of a myriad of islets, dominated by high jagged peaks that plunge directly into the sea.

Day 7  : Svalbard

Breakfast in the hotel. Today's highlight - Close to nature in an eco-friendly way!
The journey takes you through beautiful landscapes to the Billefjorden and the glacier front of the Nordenskiöldbreen. Regardless of the season, you can expect unique experiences in the beautiful nature of Svalbard. Using the pure electric motor, we then silently follow the edge of the ice where there is a chance to spot wildlife!
In addition, we see the ghost town of Pyramiden from afar and drive past Skansbukta Bay.
The catamaran's hybrid electric motor and specially designed propellers minimize noise and vibration. This not only brings you closer to nature; more importantly, the surrounding wildlife is less disturbed by our presence. You can roam freely on multiple outdoor decks or enjoy the view from inside through huge picture windows. Comfortable lounges are available both outdoors and indoors. On board you will find a café and a bar with a diverse selection of snacks and drinks (incl. light meal, vegetarian lentil soup).

Please note: Currently this trip is mainly focused on nature experiences on the way to Pyramiden and in the surrounding area. The boat does not dock.

Overnight at Radisson BLU Polar Spitsbergen (B)

Day 8  : Svalbard

Breakfast in the hotel. Exciting discovery of a coal mine and immerse yourself in the history of the archipelago, miners and their life in the mountains. The mining history is important for the existence of Longyearbyen because this town would not exist without the coal mines. You will have the opportunity to discover Mine 3, active from 1971 to 1996. It is an authentic mine, where everything has been left almost as it is since the closure. So the second you enter the building, the walls are steeped in history and give the impression that there is still life. You will experience the life of a miner during a guided tour of about 3 hours. You will receive a minor's suit, headlamp and helmet before starting your tour.

Free time for optional activities:
Walruses Safari Travel to Borebukta Bay to visit these strange animals with long teeth, walruses! During the summer, you can see walrus colonies lounging on beaches and small islets. As with all wild animals, we can't guarantee we'll see them, but the odds are good.
Dinner: In the evening experience the magic of being in the wilderness at 78 degrees north latitude! Our wilderness evening at Camp Barentz is a very special experience. When we leave the city and drive to the Advent Valley, your anticipation will increase. The mountains on either side of the valley tower above us like giants, lit by the midnight sun. At Camp Barentz we often see Svalbard reindeer and with a bit of luck even capercaillie and foxes. Our knowledgeable hosts are also on the lookout should a polar bear appear.

After arriving in the cozy wooden huts, we will be welcomed by the host of the evening. Good drinks and a delicious homemade reindeer bidos await you, along with campfire coffee and dessert. Welcome to a real Svalbard experience.
