Norwegian Fjords & Traditions with Stockholm

Early morning departure towards the fjord area of Norway. Driving through the Norwegian nature, you will pass by the Lake Tyrifjord with its several branches. This lake is one of the largest lakes in Norway and plays an important role for resting migratory birds of many species. Continue driving through magnificent Hallingdal Valley towards the picturesque village of Flåm. Nearby Gol you will stop for a photo-stop at Torpo Stave Church from 1200’s.

*There is the option to join a first-class cruise from Gudvangen to Flåm (14:30) in a silent modern electrical vessel, sailing through the idyllic Sognefjord, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

When you come in Flåm, you will board the famous Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana), one of the steepest railway lines in the world. The journey takes you from the fjord-side village of Flåm up to Myrdal, a mountain railway station located approximately 13 km away. Along the way, you will travel through spectacular scenery, passing the historic Rallar Road, steep mountainsides, breathtaking waterfalls, and 20 tunnels carved into the mountains. With countless panoramic viewpoints, many consider the Flåm Railway one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.

Upon arrival in Myrdal, you will continue by train to Voss, where you will stay overnight.

After breakfast, depart for Bergen – the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway. As a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, Bergen perfectly blends spectacular nature, rich history, and vibrant urban life all year round.

Upon arrival, meet your local guide for a 2-hour sightseeing tour, passing by the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Hanseatic Bryggen Wharf, the Church of St. Mary, the Håkon’s Fortress, and the bustling Fish Market. 

In the afternoon, you may choose to join an optional visit to the Fløibanen Funicular, offering panoramic views of Bergen and its surrounding fjords.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the city at your own pace.

After breakfast board your coach and head north. You will cross the famous Sognefjord from Oppdal to Lavik on a ferry cruise. Sognefjord is Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, which stretches 204 kilometres inland from the coast north of Bergen.

Continue driving towards the famous Briksdaal Glacier. Guests from all over the world come to visit this glacier arm set attractively between roaring waterfalls and high peaks. Briksdalsbreen is an arm of the great Jostedalsbreen Glacier and located inside the Jostedalsbreen National Park. From 1.200 meters the glacier plunges down into the beautiful Briksdalen Valley. You can approach the Briksdalen Valley by foot or catch a ride with one of the "Troll cars" up to the glacier, at an additional fee.

Departure to Geiranger, where you will board a sightseeing cruise on the Geiranger fjord - one of the Norway's most narrow and impressive fjords, dominated by a huge rock face with stunning waterfalls including the two most famous: "The Seven Sisters" or"The Veil of the Bride".

After the cruise you will continue driving north and pass by the famous Eagle Road, the steepest stretch of road up the mountain side from Geiranger towards Eidsdal on road no. 63. The road swings through 11 hairpin bends up from the Geirangerfjord and to the highest point on the stretch, 620 metres above sea level at Korsmyra. The road was an attraction from the very first day and was called Eagle Road because at its highest point it passed through terrain that had traditionally been the domain of a large number of eagles. The viewpoint has been recently upgraded and was officially opened on 21st June 2006 with a simple ceremony as part of the project "Nasjonal Turistveg" (National Tourist Roads).

Short ferry crossing from Eidsdal to Linge, before reaching the Troll’s Road, an exciting series of 11 hairpin bends that descend the mountain. A true work of art with astonishing views.

Enjoy the scenic ride and stunning views on the Atlantic Road, beautifully built between sea and land, crossing bridges and dikes, at the edge of the ocean. This true masterpiece of civil engineering was voted the "work of art of the century" by the Norwegians and ranked one of the best road routes in the world by the daily The Guardian. Continue south to Oppdal.

Today you will return to Oslo, with a short stop in Lillehammer, the charming Olympic City that hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics. Enjoy some free time to explore the town before continuing along the shores of Lake Mjøsa, Norway’s largest lake, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Arrive in Oslo in the afternoon and enjoy a three-hour guided sightseeing tour. Visit Frogner Park and the impressive Vigeland Sculpture Park, featuring more than 200 sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. Continue through the city center to see the Royal Palace, City Hall, and historic Akershus Fortress overlooking the Oslofjord.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Oslo on your own.

Walk to the train station and board the high-speed train to Stockholm. Upon arrival, walk to your hotel and check in.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Explore Stockholm, the elegant capital of Sweden, spread across an archipelago of nearly 25,000 islands. Stroll along Drottninggatan (Queen Street), the city’s main shopping street, lined with shops, cafés, and restaurants. Enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful royal city at your own pace.

A taxi driver will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the small port, where you will board the Royal Canal Cruise. Relax as you cruise through Stockholm’s beautiful waterways while learning about the city and its fascinating history.

Known as the “Beauty on Water” or the “Venice of the North,” Stockholm is built across 14 islands, surrounded by Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. Along the way, admire the city’s grand public buildings, elegant palaces, historic neighborhoods, and beautiful waterfronts, all reflecting its more than 700-year history.

After the cruise, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to explore Stockholm at your own pace. Return transportation to the hotel after the cruise is not included.

Our tour ends after breakfast. Depending on your flight details, you can still enjoy some last-minute shopping at Swedish design-ware shops, walk along the streets, admire gothic churches, and explore the city with many shops, bars, and cafes. Transfer to the airport on your own.
