Testimonials

Hidden Powers & Northern Lights of Iceland

Jonathan T Stewart
The tour guide was very knowledgeable although distant. I have only been on one tour before, many years ago and the guides were not as knowledgeable, but very friendly and involved with us.

All our paperwork advised us and our tour guide advised us that the ice cave adventure cost 230 kroner, but when we went to pay, we were charged 240 kroner. Someone brought this to the guide's attention and he just shrugged his shoulders. People would probably have preferred a specific answer or and "I will look into this" response.
More importantly, the most disappointing aspect was the lack of time at the Blue Lagoon. Our reservation was at 6:15 and we only arrived at 6:35. There was no reason why we could not have left the hotel at 5 rather than 5:30 PM. There had been free time for a few hours beforehand. Consequently, after an additional 10 minutes before someone came to let us in the experience was poorly organized, very short and led to a serious injury to one of our tour members. Her injury was directly related to rushing and poor organization, causing us to be lost within the facility and hurrying to meet up at the designated time. Additionally, I had read that we should wear flip flops or some sort of foot wear to prevent slippage and infection. The guide stressed how this was not necessary. I am happy that I wore my flip flops, but he injured individual did not. She slipped on the wet floor and broke her upper arm/shoulder as a direct consequence of this. A totally preventable accident.
Had we had the extra half hour plus in the blue lagoon that we were expecting, it would have been a much more pleasant end to an amazing voyage.

I am only mentioning these issues so they can be corrected/addressed for future reference. All in all it was a terrific experience.

Thank you

Iceland Odyssey

Roman 12 November 2016
It was a great vacation and the trip was well worth the effort. Just a couple of suggestions. You may want to let everyone know that many of the roads are gravel and that a 4W drive is probably the best choice for a vehicle otherwise you will lose out in some opportunities to see some sights. Also give a warning that some of the hotels don't have elevators so pack light. One hotel - the guest house borgatun although ok from a safely and basic living perspective was not something that I would recommend as an introduction to Iceland. It is more backpacker oriented. The rest of the hotels were fine. There were also a couple of sights that we picked up on that were not in the guide but overall it was quite comprehensive. The extreme Iceland tour to thorsmork was also great and there should be a recommendation to bring really waterproof boots and hiking gear as you have to cross rivers stepping-over rocks but eventually you will take a dip! Overall I would recommend Iceland to only those who like the outdoors and are willing to put in some physical effort otherwise you will be disappointed - but we certainly we not.

Trustpilot reviews

We recently returned from a 12 day private tour of Iceland, couldn't be any happier with Dora Rozet at Nordic Saga and with our guide (now friend), Kári Haraldsson. We travel a lot but have very rarely used a travel agent. This was going to be a more complicated trip, though, as my wife has difficulty walking and we really wanted something more in-depth than the big tour or cruise companies could offer. I researched a lot of travel agencies that specialize in Iceland and Scandanavia, had in-depth discussions with the four front runners. Nordic Saga was an excellent choice. After discussing what we wanted to see, date options and especially my wife's limitations, she put together the perfect itinerary. I don't think any tour could have given us a more in-depth and satisfying Iceland experience. I was thrilled with Nordic Saga's professionalism and reliability and with Dora's skill and responsiveness. We're especially thrilled to have been able to work with Kári, I can't imagine a better tour guide. His warmth and friendliness, his genuine drive to customize our experience to our liking, his flawless accommodation of my wife's limitations and his comprehensive knowledge of Iceland was far beyond anything that we expected. I would recommend Nordic Saga without reservation for anyone planning a northern European trip, and would give Kári my highest recommendation for anyone interested in a more personalized Iceland experience.
