Iceland Odyssey
It was a great vacation and the trip was well worth the effort. Just a couple of suggestions. You may want to let everyone know that many of the roads are gravel and that a 4W drive is probably the best choice for a vehicle otherwise you will lose out in some opportunities to see some sights. Also give a warning that some of the hotels don't have elevators so pack light. One hotel - the guest house borgatun although ok from a safely and basic living perspective was not something that I would recommend as an introduction to Iceland. It is more backpacker oriented. The rest of the hotels were fine. There were also a couple of sights that we picked up on that were not in the guide but overall it was quite comprehensive. The extreme Iceland tour to thorsmork was also great and there should be a recommendation to bring really waterproof boots and hiking gear as you have to cross rivers stepping-over rocks but eventually you will take a dip! Overall I would recommend Iceland to only those who like the outdoors and are willing to put in some physical effort otherwise you will be disappointed - but we certainly we not.
Baltic Impressions
Dear Bobby,
I just returned from the 10-day “Baltic Impressions Tour”, more than 1200 miles across three countries. It was a fantastic trip! The bus was comfortable, with adequate stops for pictures, food and restroom breaks. The local guides in each city - Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius - were knowledgable and friendly. Our 10-day tour guide, Janis, was great! He gave all explanations for the 9 English and 12 German participants easily in both languages. Everyone commented how the timing of the trip was “just right” - we didn’t feel rushed at any location, and we didn’t feel like tapping our fingers to ‘move on.’ Leaving at 9am each day allowed time for wonderful breakfast - or a little extra sleep! And we were blessed with great weather. If I could change anything about the trip, it would be an additional day in Riga! Thank you again for your attention to all the details and communications prior to departure. I will definitely be touring through Nordic Saga Tours again next summer!
Additional comment: It is only a 10 minute, 7Euro taxi ride from the airport in Tallinn to the Radisson Blu hotel. The Tallinn airport is new, small and easy to navigate. Taxis are plentiful and very safe; paying for the transfers is not necessary. ~~Dr Sherri Tenpenny, Cleveland, Ohio

Grand Tour of Iceland
Hi Dora:
I wanted to let you know I had a very good time on this tour. The connection on 9/28 worked, although I was a bit tired from the WOWAir flight. The guide, Bjorn Erik Westergren, was a fountain of information, sharing his passion and research for his adopted country. The scenery was so beautiful, I only wished we had had more time in each place.
As for the food, my needs were met in all ways at dinner thanks to Erik calling ahead each day to the place we were staying. Breakfasts varied in being adequate but I brought some protein powder and did fine. Only two lunches were problematic due to the lack of anything gluten free and substantial (with protein). I also brought snacks when we ended up eating later than usual.
So, many thanks for arranging my trip and working with me to rescue my vacation to iceland with a great alternative.
