The Dog-Sledding Adventure:  You´ll drive the dog sled by yourself into the white landscapes, through the beautiful Vass valley- an uninhabited forest landscape surrounded by majestic mountains. Upon arrival at our wilderness camp, you´ll receive outdoor clothes and shoes to keep you warm during your stay. You will get instructions on how to drive a dog sledding team by experienced mushers.

In the evening, you will be transferred from city center to Camp Tamok for your overnight stay and Northern Light activities. The camp is therefore located in a different climate zone. Here, you find stable dry weather with many days of clear sky. Due to the stable climate of this location the persistent Aurora watcher will have excellent chances of spotting the frail rays of this beauty. Also, in this uninhabited area, no artificial light will disturb your experience or your attempt to capture the Aurora Borealis with your camera. The guide will focus specifically on sharing tips and techniques on how to photograph the Aurora.

During the visit you will be served a hot meal and enjoy a social time by the open fire in the big Lavvu (Sami herdsmen’s tent). The excursion includes a 2 kilometer hike through the valley at night-time. If the sky is cloudy or there is no sign of the Northern Lights, you will head off on a Northern Lights chase by minibus. There are several hotspots within a short driving distance from the camp.

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Overnight in Aurora Chalet at Camp Tamok

After Breakfast at Camp, you will be transferred directly to Reindeer Sledding Excursion, starting at approx. 10.30

Reindeer sledding is the oldest form of transport in the north, and an ancient part of Sami culture. People of all ages can participate on this very “soft” adventure. This cultural adventure includes trying lasso-throwing, the way the Sami people still today catch their reindeers when they are rounded up for marking or slaughter. Also, you will learn about Sami culture and history.

You will be driving in pairs, with one sled for each reindeer. To conclude this excursion, you will be served a hot meal. Daytime trips give you an amazing view of the wild mountains in the area. Return back to Tromsø city center and check in at your hotel.

Bobby, I just wanted to take a minute to thank you so very much for your planning for our trip. It was absolutely fantastic!!!!! The hotel, was wonderful (and you were right, of course, the walk from our hotel to the pick-up site was just a short walk). An unexpected surprise was their buffet dinner, which was welcomed after wonderful days out at Camp Tamok. Everyone we came into contact with, car driver for airport pick-up, hotel staff and most especially the wonderful people at the Camp helped to make this a very special trip. We did get to see the Northern Lights on our first night (on the boat where the captain and his staff were a wonderful introduction to the Norwegian people)! Again, thank you so much. If you ever need a recommendation for planning someone's trip, we would be more than happy to do so.

We had a wonderful trip! Everyone was very friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to make sure everyone was safe and having a good time. Our trip included the Dog Sledding, Snow mobiles and Reindeer sledding as well as chasing the Northern Lights. We had a great time on all of the trips. We especially enjoyed the Dog Sledding. The food was very tasty. We spent the night in a Chalet but we had snow over night and didn't get to see the Lights. Fantastic trip - I highly recommend it. Just one note: Buy removable cleats for your shoes/boots, it helps when walking around Tromso.

Susie, Just wanted to let you know we are back from our Iceland and Norway trip. We had a great time, everything worked out as planned. Flights, hotels, timing, the cruise, all were terrific. It was an amazing experience, we loved every minute. Exceeded my expectations. Thanks for all your help and patience in working with us to plan and arrange everything for this tour of Norway and beyond. And yes, we came home with 5 sweaters (4 for Anna, one for me)!
Thanks again,
Bruce & Anna Whiteway
