Itinerary:

This fantastic escorted adventure starts in Oslo and continues to Trondheim by train. From Trondheim, you will embark on a Coastal voyage to Bergen by Havila, stopping at several small ports along the picturesque Norwegian coastline. During a leisurely hike to Bondhusdalen and cruise on Hardangerfjord, you can marvel at towering waterfalls and sparkling blue waters. Experience the spectacular Flåm Railway journey, followed by a cruise on the Sognefjord, Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen, a village of Viking heritage and folklore. Then on to Borgund and Gol, high in the mountains. The tour finishes back in Oslo.

Day 1  : Arrival in Oslo

Welcome to the Kingdom of Norway – a country with the most beautiful fjords on Earth!
Upon arrival, transfer from the airport to a hotel on your own. (Private transfer can be pre-booked in advance).

Depending on your arrival time, you can start exploring Norway already today. Walk along the streets and explore the city of the royal family, and the main Karl Johan’s Street, with many shops, bars, and cafes.

At 18:00 meet your Tour Leader at the reception of our hotel for an informative meeting about your tour.

Overnight at Thon Europa or similar.

Day 2  : Oslo - Trondheim (50 mi)

Breakfast in the hotel. Morning departure by train to Trondheim, around 09:00, with arrival around 14:30 (subject to the schedule). This journey offers fantastic views of the Norwegian countryside, the longest lake Mjosa and Vinstra region.

Trondheim is the third largest city in the country where vikings settled on the estuary of the Nidelven River in the 10th century. Before the sixteenth century it was called Nidaros. Green and flowery city, pleasant pedestrian streets in the center and the old quarters. Panoramic tour of the city with a glimpse of the Cathedral of Nidaros, which is one of the most beautiful Gothic ensembles in Northern Europe.

Overnight at Scandic Nidelven or similar.

Day 3  : Havila Cruise Trondheim - Bergen (160 mi)

Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast, board the Havila Cruise. We sail through the wide Trondheim fjord surrounded by rolling farmland on both sides, and enter the coast and the open sea.

You can disembark in Kristiansund and be driven along the Atlantic Ocean Road, which has been called the world's most beautiful drive. The road meanders along islets and skerries, and afterwards you can re-embark in Molde (extra fee applies). Lunch on board.

(Optional)The Atlantic Ocean Road is also a popular place for car commercials, and more recently as the location of a car chase scene for the new James Bond film. We stick to a slower speed so you can enjoy the scenery, and we also make time for photo stops. After the drive above the sea, we drive through an undersea tunnel and arrive at Kvernes Stave Church. Stave churches are Norway's most important contribution to European architecture. Kvernes Stave Church is richly decorated with leaf vines over walls and ceilings. The altarpiece and the rest of the church interior is characterised by the exuberant and colourful baroque style of the 17th century.  The journey starts with a sightseeing in Kristiansund, the klipfish capital. The town is built around the international klipfish industry, and while you are there you can sample one of the numerous dishes that can be made from klipfish.  Finally, there is time for a short sightseeing in Molde before boarding the Havila Voyages ship again. Duration: 16:30 – 21:20

Havila Voyage harvests natural resources. That’s why sustainability and the environment are important. Havila Voyage makes sure that most eco friendly passenger ships will provide best standard with the least possible impact on the environment.

Dinner and overnight in superior sea view cabins.

Day 4  : Bergen

Bergen, the gateway to the fjords of Norway, awaits at the end of the voyage. As a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, the Bergen region has the ideal combination of nature, culture, and exciting urban life all year around.

At 15:30, meet your local guide and enjoy a sightseeing tour of Bergen. Pass through the most iconic landmarks, such as the Hanseatic Bryggen, with the church of Mary, the Hakon fortress, and the famous Fish Market.

Overnight at Scandic Ornen or similar.

Day 5  : Bergen

Breakfast buffet in the hotel. After breakfast, you can admire a view from the mountains surrounding Bergen. The Fløibanen funicular in Bergen is one of Norway’s best-known and most visited attractions. The journey up the Fløyen (320 m above sea level) takes about 5–8 minutes.

After a funicular ride, you will taste local specialties like smoked salmon, fresh shrimp, or hot smoked whale in one of the restaurants at the Fish Market.

Overnight at Scandic Ornen or similar.

Day 6  : Hardangerfjord, Brandhusdalen and Sorfjorden

Breakfast buffet in the hotel. In the morning, departure towards Harnagerfjord. A short cruise to reach Bondhus.

From here, you will start your hiking adventure. The trail is easy, and one-way hiking will take approximately 30 minutes. The magnificent icefall and valley have drawn tourists since the mid-1800s. As you walk from the quay in Sundal, a hamlet on the shore of the Maurangerfjord, you are retracing a historic path toward the Bondhusvatnet lake.

Late afternoon, we will embark on the electric boat to enjoy Hardanger, one of Norway's most romantic destinations. Fruit production is the core of Hardanger, and in May/June, the fjord is surrounded by rows of fruit trees blossoming in pink and white. Add the views of snow-covered peaks, and the romantic vibes are complete. Whether inside the vessel's lounges or outside on deck, you will have great views of the scenic landscape dotted with small farms and cute villages.

Overnight at Scandic Voss or similar.

Day 7  : Flam Railways - Sognefjord - Gudvangen - Borgund Church (329 mi)

Breakfast buffet in the hotel. Morning departure towards Flam. The bus will take you to the train station in Voss. The first part of the train journey takes you to Myrdal station. Myrdal station is a mountain railway station and junction about 13 km from Flåm.

There, you will switch to the Flåmsbana train. Flåmsbana is one of the steepest train lines in the world, and the train journey runs through fantastic nature, past the Rallar road, steep mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, through 20 tunnels, and offers so many viewpoints that many feel like traveling multiple times between the mountain and the fjord.

Whether you arrive in Flam by bus or train, if schedule permits, join a cruise to Gudvangen, sailing through the idyllic Sognefjord, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Have some free time in Gudvangen to explore this village inhabited by Vikings. After lunch, we will continue driving toward Gol.

Overnight at Storefjell Resort or similar.

Day 8  : Gol - Oslo

Breakfast buffet in the hotel. Today, we return to Oslo. We continue driving along the beautiful scenery of the Norwegian highlands and coast of Lake Kroderen.

Upon arrival in Oslo in the afternoon, you will enjoy a 3-hour sightseeing tour with a local guide. The guided tour of the city includes a visit to Frogner Park, with all sculptural Vigeland. The magnificent Royal Palace, City Hall, and Akershus Fortress will also be seen.
The remainder of the day at leisure.
