Tour Itinerary

You can visit the Blue Lagoon, depending on when you arrive. The Blue Lagoon is a large lake with naturally nutrient-rich warm water and gorgeous natural scenery, making it the world's most incredible natural spa. Its magical turquoise-blue waters amid dark volcanic, moss-covered rocks will take your breath away. The 39°C water will take you into a world of luxury and relaxation.

As an option, you can explore Reykjavik, its fascinating museums, fantastic galleries, and rustic coffee houses. In addition, we recommend visiting Harpa, the iconic glass concert hall, as well as the shopping street Laugavegur and Skólavörðustígur, famous for its unique white church. Whatever you do, Reykjavik is a fantastic city that is the perfect beginning to a memorable four days.

  • Overnight in Reykjavik

Today your guide will pick you up in the morning and take you on a scenic tour of the Golden Circle.

The Golden Circle includes three breathtaking, world-renowned locations in southwest Iceland: Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and the Gullfoss Waterfall. These sites are located just outside Reykjavik and can be visited within a day.

Thingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of historical, cultural, and geographical significance. It is where Iceland's first parliament, Althingi, was formed when a group of nobles gathered in 930 AD, making it the oldest running parliament in the world that is still in operation.

The site is also full of geological wonders, such as the gap between the European and North American tectonic plates, a wide range of interesting rock formations, sapphire blue lagoons, and much more, making it a must-see for every visitor.

We will drive from Thingvellir National Park to the famous geothermal area of Geysir, known for its many geysers that have made Iceland famous. The highlight is Strokkur, a bubbling, seething spring that violently throws torrents of hot water into the air every 5 to 10 minutes. You will also see the Geysir, which gives all geysers their English name.

We continue our drive to Gullfoss, "the golden falls," a double waterfall that tumbles 34 meters into the Hvítá river and attracts travelers in summer and winter. It gets its name from the golden hue formed when water cascades down. Watching the mighty, roaring waterfall against a luscious green background is a magnificent sight. It is indeed one of Iceland's wonders. Here you will find the ideal spot to snap a picture or reflect on the glory of nature.

Overnight in hotel Ranga

  • Overnight in hotel Ranga

After a hearty Icelandic breakfast at the hotel, we head towards the famous Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and the nearby Diamond Beach. We'll drive by moss-covered lava fields, deserts that have been scarred by volcanic activity, and some amazing rock formations that are clear reminders of volcanic activity over the years.

By then, you'll have seen the magnificent Breidamerkurjokull Glacier, which extends like a tongue from Vatnajokull, Europe's largest glacier. The Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, which is known for the sparkling icebergs that float on its icy blue surface, is in its shadow. Some icebergs wash up on the nearby Diamond Beach, shining like precious diamonds against the black sands. Both breathtaking locations will leave you with life-long memories.

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, we will explore the South Coast of Iceland. If the road conditions are favorable, we will make a detour to Fjarárgljfur Canyon, known as the "Bieber Canyon," after the famous Justin Bieber, who shot his music video here.

Then we'll go to the Eldhraun lava field and the famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. We will admire the stark contrast of the white-crested waves of the Atlantic Ocean washing against its jet-black sands. A cluster of basalt sea stacks dominates the cliffside. They look like the Giant's Causeway in Ireland. We'll also see the Reynisdrangar basalt pillars, rising like jagged peaks from the sea. Folktales say they were once a trio of trolls turned to stone by the sun as they tried to drag a boat back to land.

We'll also stop at Skogafoss Waterfall, which is just as beautiful and has a broader cascade that falls 60 meters into a pool below. We'll climb the meandering path next to the falls for a breathtaking view of the entire area. Skogafoss is also a big part of Icelandic folklore. Your guide will show you two strange rock formations that are thought to be trolls that were turned to stone by the dawn. Some locals also believe that a Viking settler hid a treasure chest beneath the falls, offering fabulous wealth to the person who finds it. The famous Eyjafjallajökull stands above the Skogafoss waterfall, and with good visibility, you can catch a glimpse of this magnificent mountain. In the evening, we'll return to Reykjavik.

Dear Nordic Saga, Thank you very much for arranging this fantastic holiday for us. This trip was a celebration of our wedding anniversary and it was the best holiday I can remember. The hotels we stayed at were extraordinary. Our guide was taking us to the unearthly places and showing us the best what Iceland can offer. I was stunned by a fantastic helicopter tour to Reykjadaluron on a beautiful sunny day! The flight and the landscapes we saw were unforgettable. We touched down in Reykjadalur geothermal valley and enjoyed hot water pool there. Amazing experience! We loved Iceland and the service we received there. We will be booking more tours with you soon.
Sincerely,
Galina

Hello Dora, I can't remember now if we ever contacted you and told you what a fabulous trip to Iceland we had in April! We loved it! Everything was wonderful. You did a fabulous job planning everything. We loved sightseeing in the northern part of the country and feel we covered a lot of ground. The beauty of this country is never ending! I appreciate all of your help and will gladly recommend you to others in the future. I have just given your name to a friend who is interested in doing an Iceland tour this summer.
