Ilulissat is situated at the mouth of this fjord, which has enormous icebergs formed by the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere, Sermeq Kujalleq. The population of Ilulissat is about 4,000 people, and around 6,000 sled dogs. Dogsled is a critical transport in this modern town.
