Review about Grand Tour of Iceland by Karen Handford

Rating: 5
Many thanks to Dora who, after my initial fears about food and toilets as I recuperated from an abdominal operation, gave me a good picture of how these things are 'on the ground' so that I could optimistically pay for this trip of a lifetime. I can honestly say that my trip was fantastic. Our guide, Mimir, was superb: really knowledgeable, very responsible and professional, giving us wonderful little 'off the beaten track' experiences that surely many tourists would miss, a safe and excellent driver. The hotels were all fantastic - even the smallest fishing village guesthouse was clean and comfortable and quiet (with a memorable excellent freshly cooked dinner served in Bakki!). Wi-fi everywhere, even if not necessarily TV or phone or radio. Wi-fi was the most important item on my list after cleanliness and comfort and quiet in hotel rooms! All the sites chosen for our tour were fascinating - especially the horse farm, the herring era museum, the Egill Olafsson Museum at Hnjotur, of course the glacier lagoon and the major waterfalls, and many other places. If there was one place which was underwhelming, it was the microbrewery. But otherwise everything was just amazing. And Mimir made it all come alive for us, answering all our questions, and giving us the background to the present-day Icelandic people and its history. I have nothing but praise and thanks for this incredible and memorable trip. Thank you!

a trip of a lifetime!

This Iceland tour offers the best sights including Goðafoss waterfall, Akureyri, Siglufjörður, Húsavík, and the Langjökull and Hofsjökull glaciers. See whales, numerous kinds of birds unique to the area, and spot beautiful Icelandic horses on farms as we travel to and from each destination.
